Therapy & Professional Services

A modern, trauma-informed approach to care

At A Better Version Collaborative Counseling, we provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy and professional services grounded in collaboration, intention, and respect for individual needs and experiences.

Therapy Services

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy provides a supportive space to explore concerns such as anxiety, trauma, life transitions, stress, and feeling stuck. Our therapists work collaboratively with clients to better understand patterns, build insight, and develop practical tools for navigating daily life.

Care is personalized and paced thoughtfully, with attention to emotional safety, regulation, and progress.

Couples & Marriage Therapy

Relationships can be impacted by stress, communication challenges, unresolved experiences, and life transitions. Couples and marriage therapy offers a structured, supportive environment to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen connection.

Our therapists approach relationship work through a trauma-informed lens, helping partners better understand themselves and one another while working toward shared goals.

Family Therapy

Family therapy focuses on improving communication, understanding, and connection within family systems. Whether navigating conflict, parenting challenges, transitions, or stress related to mental health concerns, family therapy supports healthier patterns and stronger relationships.

Sessions are collaborative and respectful, with care taken to include and support each family member.

Trauma-Informed Therapy & EMDR

Trauma — whether from a single event or long-term stress — can continue to affect thoughts, emotions, and relationships long after the experience itself. Our entire practice is grounded in trauma-informed care, meaning we prioritize safety, collaboration, and pacing in all therapeutic work.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

is an evidence-based therapy used to help process distressing experiences and reduce emotional reactivity. EMDR is offered by clinicians trained in this approach and is always integrated thoughtfully into the broader therapy process.
EMDR may be helpful for individuals experiencing:

  • Trauma or unresolved past experiences
  • Anxiety connected to distressing memories
  • Emotional overwhelm or feeling “stuck”
  • Patterns that persist despite insight

What to expect with EMDR

Before beginning EMDR, your therapist will take time to understand your history, goals, and readiness for this approach. EMDR is never rushed, and you remain an active participant in the process.
Work is paced carefully, with attention to regulation and safety, and EMDR is only used when clinically appropriate.

EMDR Intensives

In addition to standard therapy sessions, we offer EMDR intensives for individuals who may benefit from more focused, extended trauma-processing work.
EMDR intensives involve longer sessions tailored to individual goals and readiness, while still prioritizing safety and nervous system regulation. This format may be helpful for some clients seeking concentrated support or who have limited availability for ongoing sessions.
EMDR intensives are offered thoughtfully and collaboratively. Your therapist will help determine whether this option is appropriate as part of your overall treatment plan.

EMDR Therapy: Common Questions

Not necessarily. EMDR does not require you to share every detail of an experience out loud. Your therapist will guide the process in a way that feels respectful and manageable, with safety and pacing as top priorities.

EMDR is best known for trauma treatment, but it can also be helpful for anxiety, distressing life experiences, and patterns that feel difficult to change. Your therapist will help determine whether EMDR is appropriate based on your goals and needs.

EMDR is not started automatically. Your therapist will first take time to understand your history, current concerns, and readiness. Together, you’ll decide whether EMDR fits into your treatment plan or if another approach is a better starting point.

EMDR is a well-researched, evidence-based therapy. At our practice, it is always provided within a trauma-informed framework that prioritizes regulation, collaboration, and your sense of safety. You are never pushed beyond what feels manageable.

That’s very common. Questions, hesitation, or uncertainty are welcome parts of the process. Your therapist will talk through concerns with you and move at a pace that feels supportive.

EMDR intensives involve longer, focused sessions designed for deeper engagement with specific concerns. They are not a faster or forced approach to healing and are only recommended when clinically appropriate.

EMDR is provided by clinicians who are specifically trained in the approach. Our team will help connect you with a therapist who offers EMDR if it is a good fit for your care.

Common Questions

How do I know which service is right for me?

You don’t need to decide that before reaching out. Our team can help determine whether therapy, EMDR, an EMDR intensive, consultation, or supervision may be the best fit.

Do all therapists offer every service?

No. Each clinician has their own training and areas of focus. We’ll help connect you with the provider best suited to your needs.

Are consultation and supervision billed through insurance?

No. Professional services are separate from therapy and are not billed through insurance.

A collaborative, trauma-informed foundation

Across all therapy and professional services, our practice is grounded in trauma-informed care. We prioritize safety, collaboration, pacing, and ethical boundaries while supporting meaningful growth — both personally and professionally.

You don't have to
go through your
struggles alone.
